Payroll Clerk - accounting / finance - job employment

• Maintain payroll information by collecting and entering data into appropriate payroll software
• Review and verify source data and documents such as timecards, federal, state and local tax exemption certificates, and direct deposit requests
• Update payroll information by entering changes
• Maintain payroll records by paper or electronic filing
• Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
• Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests
• Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
• Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operation by keeping information confidential
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks
• Special projects as assigned

• Minimum of 2 years payroll experience or related administrative experience
• Ability to handle high level data entry in a fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Good customer service skills
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to follow detailed directions, set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines
• Ability to work well independently and as a team member
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers in and outside of assigned department
• Applicable degree or certification a plus
