Information Technology Services (ITS) at the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is in search of an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Engineer. This role has significant oversight of large-scale cloud computing solutions across the full enterprise stack. AWS at MCCCD is a platform that will be used by a variety of stakeholders at the District Office and ten colleges. This is a hands-on role requiring heavy engagement within AWS on a daily basis. This role regularly collaborates with numerous technical subject matter experts, IT managers, and Directors, and is frequently called upon to translate business goals into cost-effective solutions using the AWS platform. Experience managing and deploying solutions in AWS in the higher education vertical is desired. ITS culture values strategic thinkers and problem solvers, those who are steadfast in their commitment to MCCCD students, engaging with people, and a natural self-starter.

30% - Designs and implements AWS cloud infrastructure solutions with emphasis on infrastructure provisioning, infrastructure management, systems monitoring, governance automation, security management, Identity Access Management (IAM), AWS processes and policies
20% - Acts as a subject matter expert and internal consultant to Maricopa Community Colleges leaders, teams and stakeholders on the cost-effective use of and technology and service deployments within AWS
20% - Supervises the cloud services team (regular team meetings, one-on-one staff meetings, job performance feedback, career planning and cross training)
15% - Troubleshoots and resolves issues with the AWS cloud environment and related trouble tickets (tier 3 support)
10% - Collaborates with other engineers and product owners to continually evolve products and services using Agile and DevOps techniques
5% - Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and four (4) years of technical experience with AWS cloud initiatives including AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate certifications.

OR

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of technical experience with AWS cloud initiatives including AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate certifications.

OR

High School Diploma/GED and eight (8) years of technical experience with AWS cloud initiatives including AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate certifications.



We would love for you to have...

Experience as a lead architect on an enterprise AWS cloud environment at a higher education institution
Experience in AWS-based security groups, networking (for example, VPC, VPN, DNS), compute (for example, EC2), storage (for example, S3, EBS, Glacier), logging and monitoring usingCloudwatchand CloudTrail, managing AWS organizations in ControlTower, identity and access management including configuring users, groups, roles and policies, business continuity and disaster recovery planning (for example, regions, availability zones), cloud platform operations and governance
Experience with both JSON and Python, automating AWS tasks using AWS tools, SDKs, cloud formation scripts, command line tools, and RESTful API integrations
Experience migrating on-premise applications and services including alternative SaaS solutions to AWS as well as understanding financial modeling and costs in AWS; preferably with PeopleSoft
Experience supervising a technical staff
Other AWS-obtained certifications (for example, AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty, AWS Certified Security Specialty, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner)
Possess other relevant, current certifications (for example, Network+, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, Project+, PMI-ACP, CSM, CSPO, scrum)
