Category: Software / QA / DBA

If you’re an experienced software architect and leader, technically deep and able to influence change, with specific depth in Kafka architecture, we’d love to talk with you. We’re supporting one of our partners as they stand up a new Kafka-based data streaming environment and create a companywide center of excellence - you’ll have a chance to impact a wide range of business processes and technologies.

What you’ll be doing:
Provide technical leadership to support a massive data migration from legacy SQL databases to a Kafka-based architecture
Establish and evangelize standards and best practices around Kafka usage across a large engineering organization
Write real code as reference implementations, and work with engineers to establish great examples
Work cross-company around how Kafka is adopted - present to technical and business leadership, influence change without authority, and build strong relationships
Communicate clearly, professionally, and consistently with your team and your client
Be a good person; we’re proud to work with every single Rooster Park engineer and you will be too!

What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
10+ years experience in software development, with specific experience around data management
3+ years experience as a software architect within an organization
3+ years experience with Kafka as an engineer and/or architect
Strong, well-thought-through opinions on best practices around Kafka and data stream development
Experience in developing and designing applications using cloud technologies, preferably AWS
Experience presenting your ideas to internal stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
Strong collaboration and communication skills; you function well autonomously with drive and self-direction, but you’re also comfortable being part of a team and working in partnership with your engineering colleagues
You are reliable, responsible, consistent, nice, and passionate about what you do

We pay competitively, with excellent healthcare and other benefits. This is a long-term consulting opportunity, based in Seattle, WA. Unfortunately at this time we are not able to provide sponsorship for employment and request no agency submissions. Thank you!

We're Rooster Park, and we're a boutique consulting and recruiting agency obsessed with finding the right fits for a small set of partners. You can learn more at http://www.roosterpark.com/. Hope to hear from you!
