Networking Technician (Metro Vancouver) - technical support

Job Description:
Company based in Metro Vancouver is seeking a cable and networking technician to join our team! You will be resolving cabling, networking, Internet related issues.
• Experience in Cabling & Terminations (1-3 years field experience):
o Installation of Cat5e/6 Structured Cabling Systems according to British Columbia industry standards
o Twisted Pair Copper dmarc extensions
o Various cabling termination types (Cat6, shielded, Cat5e etc.)
• Experience in Networking Equipment (1-3 years field experience):
o Ability to connect to network hardware and the Internet using a laptop
o Understanding and ability to recognize DSL modems, routers, network switches and associated devices
o Identification of different types of voice and data circuits
o Installation of voice switches and data network hardware
o T1, MPLS, DSL circuits
o POTS lines
o Wireless Access Points, Power over Ethernet (Installation)
o Networking switch installation/ racking, patching
• Ability & Understanding in the use of Low-Voltage tools: 110 Punch, R66 block punch, BIX punch, Tone and Wand, RJ45 and Coaxial Cable tester.
• Ability & Understanding in the use of: drill, screwdriver, leveler, laser level, stud finder, tape measure, hole-saw, label maker, similar
• Able to lift 50 LBS and use a ladder
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
• Skills including: installing, configuring, troubleshooting, programming, and replacing parts as need.
• Must be able to follow direction as well as work well independently.
• Ability to handle more than one responsibility at a time and work under deadline pressures.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal), organizational skills, and time management.
• Ability to build rapport with clients.
• Positive, professional demeanor, punctual and reliable.
Tech must have his/own tools,
Vehicle transportation preferred, but not mandatory.
Must be able to work in Canada.
