We are looking for a caregiver/home aid (Service Support Professional) to enable a 26 y/o male client, with special needs, to develop living skills so that he may successfully live independently outside of his parentsâ€™ home. Caregiver is to function as companion, teacher, enabler, and mentor to the client. Client is highly functional, usually easy going, never physically aggressive, intelligent, creative, with a great sense of humor; but can be challenging to motivate.

Hours and Schedule: 12-24 hrs per week, depending on availability. More hours possible in the near future, if desired. Schedule is subject to change, but typical shift hours are 12-4/5 PM and 6-10 PM throughout the week.
Pay: Pay rate is $21.65 an hour (before withholding).
Skills needed: Must be punctual and reliable, a non-smoker with a reliable car and current PA driverâ€™s license; be "pet-friendly," and have experience working with special-needs adults. Must live within a reasonable driving distance, work independently, and be teachable with input from client's parents. Must be pro-active, patient, easy-going, flexible, with excellent communication skills, and have a great sense of humor. Other requirements include English speaker, access to a computer with email, having some computer skills, and PA clearances.
Job Description: Job entails working out of clientâ€™s home and in the surrounding community, being a friend to the client, developing trust, building up client's coping skills, and developing clientâ€™s daily living skills. Many of these skills would include cleanliness of living spaces, dog care and training, telling time, interpersonal communication, maintaining reading, writing and math skills, coping methods for depression and anxiety, shopping, use of electronic devices, personal appearance, doing laundry, cooking/preparation of meals, scheduling and transporting client to activities and appointments, and managing client's health care and medicine intake. Job also entails caregiver to regularly participate in client's interests including: Anime, card games (YuGiOh, Magic, PokÃ©mon), in order to maintain clientâ€™s reading, comprehension and math skills; as well as model building, hiking and fishing, and viewing Lord of the Rings/Hobbit/Anime movies. Some paperwork is required.
