The Print Production Artist is responsible for producing mechanicals and press ready files for a variety of print applications and will also support the daily traffick of print collateral projects. Projects include brochures, direct mailers, invites, packaging and exterior/interior signage. A solid knowledge of various printing processes and finishing is required. Duties include preflighting, collecting, processing, checking and uploading files and maintaining the advertising media calendar and keeping relevant teams aware of upcoming print and digital advertising deadlines.
This role requires someone who will dig into the components of existing and new projects and have a true understanding of what needs to happen to get it done. Must be a process oriented self starter. This is a freelance role with the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate. This is not a graphic design position.
Building print ready mechanicals for publication print advertising (magazines, newspaper), print collateral, books, large format, packaging, and specialty print items.
Conduct pre-flight and technical integrity checks on all files originating from graphic design team, including final review of file specifications prior to release and ensuring adherence to standards of department and vendors.
Maintain and monitor print-production timelines with senior partner in charge of production and project managers to meet deadlines and deliveries.
Collaborate with project managers and creative/art directors to seek approvals for print collateral, and all final print mechanical sign-offs.
Support in sourcing of materials needed to execute projects or research.
Prepare and assemble creative presentations when needed.
Maintain the advertising media calendar and keep relevant teams aware of upcoming print and digital advertising deadlines.
Any support that the senior partner in charge of production requires.
Ability to work with precision under rigorous deadlines, and extended daily schedules when necessary.
Strong typographic and layout skills and outstanding organizational, project management, file-organization skills are a must.
Strict attention to detail, quality, critical specifications, and production requirements.
Excellent proficiency in all Adobe Creative Suite programs.
Experience with Epson output devices, color proofing, and fine print / exhibition quality digital printing.
Excellent visual acuity, and ability to interpret/communicate design and color comments.
Thorough understanding of print-mechanical specifications, ad material specs, and workflow.
Understanding of color profiles and CMYK & RGB color workflows.
4-5 years of agency or in house experience with mechanicals and print production. Graphic design experience a plus.
