Position: Accounting & Payroll Assistant
Reports to: Business Finance Director
FSLA: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Pay Rate: $18-$23/hour

SOS Community Counseling: Support Our Students (SOS) is a non-profit training facility for Therapists Associates and Trainees that offers mental health services to our community through collaborations with the schools, the justice system, and through our community counseling clinics, for free and low fee. Our mission is to provide therapy to those who need it, regardless of ability to pay.

We are a medium/small non-profit that recently went through a great internal restructuring, and have grown since. We are in search of a reliable, dedicated individual who can help us manage the many day to day accounting and payroll tasks, working collaboratively with our team to support our counseling staff.

The Accounting and Payroll Assistant will assist the Executive Director, Business Finance Director and other SOS Administrative staff in supporting administrative and business finance aspects of the agency, including day-to-day tasks. We are looking for a organized and efficient individual who can help bring greater efficiency to our operations.

Payroll processing time sheets bi- monthly, processing special paychecks; requesting reimbursements; tracking of sick-time usage;
Enter timesheet into monthly payroll, give to Cumulus (payroll provider)
Communicate with SOS staff to provide reminders, updates to instructions to time sheets, clarify discrepancies,
Update and make changes to time sheets
Assist with payroll and timesheet efficiency projects

If in house: Prepare and deliver bank deposits;
Track all income and expenses into QuickBooks Online;
Oversee manual invoicing process, may prepare some invoices directly, enter invoices/sales receipts into QBO
Track operational expenses, prepare reimbursements
Assist with month-end accounting processes including preparing journal entries and initial review of financial statements
Assist with accounts receivable collections
Assist with converting paper accounting files into an electric format

This position will be supporting the leadership team and may be asked to attend meetings, provide updates; will also provide support to all SOS staff and volunteers;
Contributes to organization’s culture and vision by exhibiting leadership consistent with agency’s vision and mission;
Develop and maintains positive and effective relationships with individuals or organizations involved in the organization’s operations, internally and externally;
Maintain confidentiality of all employees and information gain in this position.
Other tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
10-key experience
Some accounting experience required, either scholastic or work experience.
Ability to communicate professionally and concisely in verbal and written form
Accounting test included in hiring process
Intermediate level spreadsheet skills in MS Excel and/or Google Sheets
Intermediate level word processing skills in MS Word and/or Google Docs

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Two or more years of experience working in an office.
Satisfactorily pass background check and DOJ fingerprint clearance.
