We are currently looking for an Installation Technician â€“ Capital Equipment to join our team, based in the Los Angeles area. The Installation Technician is a field-based, Customer-facing role that primarily installs Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department equipment, as directed by an Installation Project Manager. They provide complete equipment installation in accordance with plans and specifications including scheduling, delivery, installation, check-out, and final inspection of equipment. The ideal candidate will help drive STERIS' initiatives for growth and development of business, interact with customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner, and complete administrative tasks as required. Collaborates with the Installation Project Manager to schedule product installation in coordination with equipment delivery, Customer availability, and construction schedules.
Prior to installation, verifies that rough-in dimensions and utilities are adequate to meet the equipment specifications. Ensures that doorway, elevator, and hallway dimensions are sufficient to allow transportation of the equipment to the installation site.
Verifies that the equipment delivered to the Customer matches the order. If the order does not match, contacts the Installation Project Manager for direction.
Performs installation of STERIS products, including, but not limited to: uncrating; assembling; setting or lifting products into place; leveling; connecting utilities; and testing units.
Must be capable of independent work. Completes service documentation electronically.
Tests units with live utilities and initiates a basic cycle to verify the integrity of the installation work performed.
Provides daily email updates to keep all parties informed and to ensure timely in-service, hand off to local technicians, and Customer satisfaction.
Ensures Customer satisfaction through post-installation activities to include disposal of all associated packing and shipping crate material, ensuring equipment is wiped down and fingerprints are removed, and addressing any questions/issues before leaving the site.
Maintains a courteous and professional demeanor when working with Customers, contractors, management, and fellow employees. Utilizes Customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities and abides by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures.
Maintains tools. Submits an annual inventory to their assigned manager.
Maintains an installation materials inventory (consumable products) in line with scheduled installation activity.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements
Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical or similar degree, plus one year of related experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of five years of experience.
Troubleshooting skills, along with strong organizational and problem-solving skills required.
Polished and professional customer interaction and communication skills a must.
Energetic with a desire to learn and develop new skills.
Ability to work flexible hours and travel extensively as required.
Valid Driverâ€™s License required.
Basic knowledge of personal computers required.
Physical Working Requirements
This position requires routine walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, and twisting.
Perform work from floor level to above shoulder height.
Routinely lift/lower/carry 1 to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/lower 36 to 49 pounds .
Climb ladders and/or scaffolds and work above floor height.
Crouch, stoop or squat to work inside or under equipment, or move through low headroom spaces.
Routinely push, pull, and grasp, requiring manual dexterity in the use of hands, arms and shoulders.
Walk great lengths at a time and stand for extended periods of time.
Work in tight spaces.
Push/pull wheeled transporters and/or palletized product using up to approximately 50 lbs of force.
Will work in and around hospital personnel, sensitive medical equipment and patients.
