Our startup develops software to help improve the outcomes of children diagnosed with autism, and we recently obtained a grant from the National Science Foundation to create a working prototype of our system. We have one year to deliver a working prototype to the NSF, and if the prototype is successful, we have an excellent chance of closing a much larger round of funding from the NSF to help us bring the product to market.

The product is a system that collects video and biometric data, combines it with narrative data, and then outputs reports that a behavior analyst can use to optimize a child's therapeutic program. It is being built on Microsoft's Azure platform, so experience with cloud-based software development is key. Our team is located in the brand new District New Haven building, but we are willing to consider remote, US-based candidates.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone hungry and eager to rapidly move their software engineering career forward. The grant from the NSF doesn't allow us to pay a premium, but you'll have the opportunity to take a leadership role in a greenfield project and develop across all layers of the application utilizing the latest cloud-based technologies. And this is not to mention the fact that all of your hard work will be channeled toward a worthy cause: helping autistic kids achieve their best possible outcomes.
Here's the obligatory bulleted list describing our ideal candidate:
• 5+ years of experience in web application development
• Experience developing applications on the Microsoft Azure platform
• Excellent knowledge of C# .NET 4.x
• Excellent knowledge of SQL Server
• Knowledgeable in SOA integration, development, testing, and deployment
• Knowledgeable in HTML and JS Frameworks, including JQuery, Angular and Bootstrap
• Knowledge of automated unit testing/mocking frameworks
• Excellent knowledge of Git
• Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented Programming/Design Patterns
• Experience with Entity Framework
• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
This is a full-time position with equity. It's a killer opportunity for a software engineer to step into a leadership role and then grow with the company. We are open to considering remote candidates, but you must be based in the US. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can spend some of their time working with us in person at our office in New Haven. Any remote candidate will be expected to come up to speed and start contributing quickly.
We know that the job market isn't very efficient, and lots of candidates shotgun resumes to every possible opening. If that's you, please don't send us your resume; just move on to the next post on the list. However, if you can show us that you actually read our post and put a few minutes into thinking about how your skills might specifically be a good fit for our project, we'll gladly give your resume a detailed review and send you a reply.
