Aviation publisher is seeking a motivated, highly organized part time copy editor to join the editorial team.

The job entails copy editing web and print content for clarity, consistency, and correctness, handling final production of the print issue, and maintaining the production schedule of print and digital content. The position may require the creation of content on an as-needed basis.
A qualified candidate will have impeccable knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and usage; will be extremely detail oriented; and will be able to function in a deadline-driven environment. Must have working knowledge of General Aviation including acronyms and terminology and must have experience editing to AP Stylebook. A great sense of humor and ability to work well in teams or alone are key assets. Knowledge of SEO and the ability to write compelling titles, subtitles and deks a plus.
This is a regular part-time, flexible position of approximately 40 hours per month. This position has potential for growth to full-time editor position.
A copyediting assessment will be given to qualified candidates.
General duties and responsibilities:
â€¢ Copyedit issues and web content for clarity, consistency and correctness
â€¢ Handle production of each issue (creating loops, files for publication, etc.) and keep editorial staff informed of progress and problems.
â€¢ Maintain production schedule of print and digital content
â€¢ Perform technical edit of General Aviation magazines, newsletters, websites and promotional material, including fact checking
â€¢ Produce occasional content and fulfill other assignments as assigned
â€¢ Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or related field
â€¢ Editorial production experience a plus
â€¢ Hands-on working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign
â€¢ Solid organizational, communication, and production/trafficking skills
â€¢ Able to juggle multiple priorities, respond to special quick turnaround projects, and successfully hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment
