Navigators work virtually using a personal computer and mobile phone to provide services to Traceways' clients. In this role, you will refer clients to community mental health resources, supports and other related local social services agencies. You will help update and maintain contact records for these support organizations and ensure that our database accurately reflects the nature of the services and populations each serves.
This is a contract position allowing for a flexible work schedule. We will provide any assistance you might need to complete required payment and tax paperwork and you will be covered under the company's professional liability insurance coverage. There is future potential to transition to an employed position with achievement of individual and corporate milestones.
Responsibilities and Duties
â€¢ Answer phone calls and text messages to assist individuals and families in identifying and contacting relevant local mental health and related support organizations.
â€¢ Respond to clients in a professional, non-judgmental and culturally-appropriate manner, providing accurate information enabling the client to choose the most appropriate resource(s).
â€¢ Provide enhanced system navigation and advocacy services such as calling agencies on behalf of clients or participating in joint calls with clients and service providers to facilitate the access of needed services. Requires Navigator follow-up with clients on an ongoing basis.
â€¢ Timely and accurate completion of client records to record interactions, ensure consistency of client experience, and include data in company reports.
â€¢ Remain informed of services delivered by community mental health agencies and organizations, resources available for individuals living with mental illness, and relevant workshops and classes.
â€¢ Identify new local support resources, add contact information and program descriptions to corporate database and keep company leadership informed of these services.
â€¢ Develop client outreach objectives and plans and prompt follow-up to determine whether clients are experiencing challenges receiving support and are achieving their goals.
â€¢ Make presentations to community groups to promote Traceways and its work.
Navigator Minimum Requirements
â€¢ Minimum of 1-3 years related experience in human service, non-profit, or other related field or sufficient combination of education and experience.
â€¢ Knowledge of mental health and other social services and resources available in Dallas, TX, and surrounding counties.
â€¢ Strong verbal and customer service skills, including the ability to work directly with clients to provide an exceptional service experience.
â€¢ Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills; and can work with a minimum of supervision.
â€¢ Highly creative problem solver and determined investigator to discover the best resources and supports for each client.
â€¢ Ability to respect and relate well to all people regardless of personal characteristics such as race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, pregnancy status, political leanings, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability or socio-economic level.
â€¢ Basic computer skills and ability to effectively use internet web browsers, search engines, desktop applications, and Google products including emails and calendars.
â€¢ Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.
â€¢ Individuals with lived experience of mental health issues who are actively in recovery are encouraged to apply.
â€¢ Previous experience on support, warm and/ or crisis lines is preferred.
â€¢ Database knowledge a plus.
Basic Work-space and Technology Requirements:
â€¢ Access to phone line (land-line or cellular with reliable service at work-space location)
â€¢ Laptop or desktop computer running Windows (versions 7, 8, or 10) or Mac (OS X 10.9 or newer) operating systems with functioning speakers and microphone.
â€¢ Reliable internet access.
â€¢ Quiet and organized work-space where Navigator can take and make confidential client calls.
