You'll write for the blog, generate ideas for our Six-Word challenges (called SixContests), interact with schools and organizations, and participate in the creative process of the internationally known Six-Word Memoir project. This internship involves regular blog postings and irregular grunt work (mailings, the occasional excel doc). As part of the internship, you'll read and potentially curate submissions that come in every day to SIXWORDMEMOIRS.COM and engage with our passionate community of storytellers.

Interns based in Columbus, Ohio during may also work on the Six in the City: Columbus (SITC) project. You'll do outreach to local teachers, writers, artists, as well as help organize SITC events throughout the greater Columbus area. You need to be a high-energy people person to thrive in this aspect of the internship, one where we will be deep into the Columbus community and having a lot of fun.

Deadline for internship application for winter/spring 2018: January 15, 2018

This internship is open to anyone, and may be ideal for college students or recent graduates who can work approximately 10 hours a week via a combination of working virtually and (if local) coming to our Columbus-based office. Internships run for a minimum of three months, and include a $100/month stipend (with bonus stipends if you're going above and beyond the call of duty).

• Creating Six-Word challenges to drive on-site interaction (contests, etc.)
• Developing blog entries based on upcoming events on the Six Words editorial calendar
• Writing articles about schools and organizations participating in the Six-Word Memoirs® community
• Being an active participant on

• Proficiency in WordPress and Excel
• Strong writing skills
• Ability to work under deadlines
• Great communication skills
• An interest in storytelling and current events

• Submit your resume and a short cover letter stating why you want this internship, and complete these assignments:
• Look through recent Six-Word Memoirs® ( and tell us which six among the last 50 that have been submitted you think should be featured as "Editor's Picks."
• Suggest three Six-Word prompts or challenges for a forthcoming SixContest.
• Login to the site, create a profile and start writing Six-Word Memoirs®, at least one with a backstory.
