We are a long-time website hosting provider for public and private schools (since 2002), and we currently serve almost 2,500 schools in 38 states, and are immediate need of a FULL-TIME website designer/builder who is familiar AND experienced with creating fully responsive and mobile-friendly website designs. We use a content management system called DotNetNuke for our website hosting, so while you will be building websites, they will have to meet certain requirements in order to work within the framework of the CMS.

You will NOT be building website from scratch with bootstrap, straight CSS or anything super tricky, but will instead be using an application that all of our sites have been created on, called Artisteer (http://www.artisteer.com), which we will provide to you at no cost. Using Artisteer to create the "base" of the school site design (the bulk of the HTML and CSS), you will then be 'tweaking' and modifying the CSS and HTML as needed to meet the customers' specific requests and requirements of their design.

You will also be integral in converting all of our existing non-responsive websites to fully responsive websites, partially through Artisteer and partially through manually modifying the Artisteer output HTML and CSS files as needed. While we have a plan in mind for streamlining the upgrade process, your input will certainly be welcome and requested as we create procedures for converting existing sites, as well as building new sites going forward.

We are a continually growing company, and constantly have new customers coming on board, so while you're upgrading our existing customer sites, you will also be designing new customer sites as well. Because of the hectic pace around here, you must be able to work quickly and accurately, and be able to handle tight timelines and short turn-around times. Fortunately, none of our site designs are super intricate or complicated, but there are just a whole LOT of them to contend with.

A self-starter and self-motivated person who doesn't need a lot of micro-management is the type of person who will fit best for this job. Although you'll be working from your own home, with the occasional meetup with our entire Georgia team, you MUST be able to meet deadlines and stay on task without continual management over site.

Applicants MUST have their own computer, be very knowledgeable of CSS, HTML and website design (specifically creating fully-responsive designs for a CMS), must have reliable Internet connectivity, and be willing to work alone reliably. Photoshop and/or other art programs will be required (your preference) for the creation or modification of logos and other graphics and artwork needed for the sites. We use GIMP and Paint.net, but you're welcome to use whatever program you are most comfortable with, but must have experience with some sort of graphic/arts application.

This will be a FULL-TIME and LONG-TERM work from HOME position, but since we are still a very small company, we DO NOT currently offer any insurance benefits. However, we do provide one full paid week off during the Christmas break, as well as another full paid week of time off during the year (dates of your choice), as well as all weekends, and most major holidays off. We can also be very flexible with requests for days and hours off, so long as time is made up after hours or weekends. Anyone wanting to work as a full-time subcontractor is also welcome, however, WE DO NOT WANT TO OUTSOURCE OVERSEAS!

All qualified applicants are welcome to apply, but this is NOT an opportunity for somebody new to start learning about website design, HTML or CSS! You absolutely MUST have prior and demonstrable proven experience, and be able to hit the ground running and ready to start designing new websites and converting existing websites, with little or no continued management.

Please email ROB at SCHOOLDESK dot NET with your resume and/or qualifications, and please put "WEB DESIGNER" in the subject field...and yes, this is a test. If you cannot follow that simple requirement, you probably won't be able to handle the rest of what the job demands :)

Thank you, and we look forward to meeting our next website designer soon!

Please no calls or texts, but do provide a valid phone number and email address so that we can reach you if your qualifications match what we are looking for.
