Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People and Open Space Arts Society, two Victoria based non-profit arts organizations, are looking for a part time Bookkeeper. Approximately 40 hours per month in total @ $25 per hour

Primary Responsibilities:

• Verifies and enters details of transactions in a computerized accounting system.
• Prepares appropriate schedules and reports as requested.
• Prepares payroll and all payroll tax returns on timely basis.
• Ensures regulatory filings are made on time.
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepares monthly financial statements to clients that are both accurate and timely.
• Helps provide financial information for grant applications.
• Assists in preparation of budgets and forecasts, and manages cash flow.
• Prepares annual reports for government agencies such as the CRA and Gaming Branch.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

• Formal course training in accounting.
• Experience working for a non-profit.
• Preferably, 2+ years of responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to a computerized accounting system, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reports.
• Experience using Sage 50 (preferred) and/or QuickBooks.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions, and returns.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Highly organized, detail oriented and committed to quality work.
• Works with confidential company and personnel matters, requires ability to keep matters confidential.
